Man goes missing 26 years after his father
A horrible history could be repeating itself for a Kingston family as they search for their loved one, Odane Williams.
In 1999, the family was plunged into mourning after Williams' father was found dead days after he left to meet a woman he had recently met. Fast forward to March 31. Williams left his Denham Town home with a woman he connected with on TikTok; he has not been seen since. Williams' brother, Michael, said the family is restless.
"We are not doing well and we are praying for the best, but at the same time preparing for the worst, especially since we don't live in a fairytale world. Girl set our father life up and he went to visit that woman and him never live to come back. We just find him body inna one bush over one part and that is the fear that I have as I keep wondering if life a replay itself," Michael said.
On the day in question, Michael said relatives recalled Williams being picked up at his Denham Town home by a woman in a vehicle driven by a man. Michael said he was uncertain if it was the first time his brother was meeting the female in person, but said he and others had heard Williams speaking about her on numerous occasions. That afternoon, he stopped at a shop in Waterhouse to make a purchase when he saw Williams accompanied by a woman and man.
"When I saw my brother, I turn to him and ask him what him doing there because I know my brother nuh live yasso or have any family to be there. Him laugh and tell mi say him was there with him woman," Michael said. He said that at the time, he saw no signs of concern or that Williams was in danger. He simply watched as his sibling went freely into the back of the car and left.
"The girl was looking at me and wasn't saying anyting and I turned to her and told her he was my older brother. I didn't ask him where he was going because him say a him and him woman. A mi bigger brother suh mi just leave it at dat and mi never wah 'bwoy him up'. I am the overprotective one, so if mi did sense anything out of place, him would not go anywhere and him couldn't go anywhere," he said.
However, hours later, when Williams' phone constantly went to voicemail, Michael said he began feeling uncomfortable.
"It's like after a while it dawn on mi say why mi make mi brother leave with two strangers and don't tell mi where him going. So mi try call him and nah get him. Everybody a try call and from Monday to now that's it. My brother had his charger on him and his phone is off. A my brother phone keep him going so it nago off as him have to play music and game and him have to be on TikTok," he said.
A missing person's report was filed last Wednesday at the Denham Town Police Station. Michael said that his brother had been reporting to the station as a condition of his bail, after being accused of affiliating with wrongdoers in another matter.
"My brother would not disappear like that because he was supposed to report at the station on Wednesday and he didn't. He would not have done that because he knows his bail would have been revoked. Even if he was at work, him always take time off and report. His report book is at home also. My brother is his own big man so I don't care where he is. All I want to know is where he is at and that he is okay," Michael said.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Odane Williams is being asked to contact the Denham Town police at 876- 922-6441 or the nearest police station.
