Dominic Groves, a four-year-old Malvern, St Elizabeth boy, has been heartbroken since his goat, gifted to him by his grandfather, was stolen last Saturday.

The boy's father, Nicholas Groves, told THE WEEKEND STAR that Dominic has been asking a lot of questions about his animal.

"Me not even know how to explain and tell him that them thief him goat, because him still wake up and ask to go tie out the goat," the father said. "We have to lie and tell him that grandpa already tie the goat, just to not make him feel a way, because him insist on going."

Nicholas said that Dominic has developed a liking for the ram, which was given to him a year ago.

Fall in love with him

"Him and him grandfather always look after the goats and cows, so he gave him one of the goats, and from that him fall in love with him," Nicholas said. "Every morning him wake up early, all after 5 o'clock, and go to him grandfather and tell him that is time to tie out the goat. Even when him a go school him want to tie it out, in dew water and fog. Him love the goat, man." The elder Groves said that the ram was one of three goats stolen from the property.

"Because it was raining, and the lightning, my father didn't want to take any risk to go out there in the early evening, so when him go about after 5 p.m., him realise that the goats (were) missing," Nicholas said.

"It rough to know say him invest so much in him goat and now other people a benefit. We were even planning to sell the goat and buy him a tablet because, you know, with the COVID, everything is mostly online," said Nicholas. "That was the main reason my father even give him the goat, so it can help him."

The matter has been reported to the Malvern Police Station and Nicholas has been posting photos of the goat on social media, in the hope that his boy will get back his goat.

"Right now me scared to even get him another goat, because me nuh want to put him through this again," the father said.
