Even though the Gregory Park Basic School was not part of the national Labour Day project in 2016, Member of Parliament Alando Terrelonge adopted the school and gave it a new paint job.

Since then, he said that he has dedicated himself to the school because "early childhood education is very important".

On this Labour Day, he again helped to spruce up the school.

"This is the main basic school in the community, and we gave them some paint. We did some debushing as well, painting of the desks and washing of the toys," he said.

Principal Jennifer Ferguson said that she was very grateful for the help because the school needed new paint and the trees were touching the electric wires.

"I am pleased. What's happening now is that the Gregory Park Foundation is here with us finishing up what is left. We are grateful for what has been happening. Inside, the classrooms are renewed. The walls are repainted. It's going to be a bright, new school Monday morning, and we are happy," she said.
