KFA, Excelsior earn big wins at Target USA Cup
Kingston Football Academy (KFA) and Excelsior High kicked off their opening day of the 2025 Target USA Cup in dominant fashion by securing massive wins at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minnesota.
The Target USA Cup, one of the largest youth football tournaments in the world, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
The long-standing tournament is also celebrating its largest number of entrants in its history, with over 1,000 teams competing for respective age group honours.
Excelsior High began their campaign in boys U15 Silver age group division with a dominant 9-0 demolition of Maplebrook Soccer Club.
The massive win sees Excelsior take the top spot in bracket D, ahead of Penarol Mexico who had defeated Broomfield Soccer Club 2-0 in their opening game.
Excelsior will continue their campaign today in a top-of-the-table clash against Penarol Mexico , set for 3:45 p.m. Jamaica time.
For KFA, the academy registered several wins across the various age groups as they registered multiple quads in this year's competition.
They picked up a massive 7-0 win over Twin Cities Rush in the boys U13 Copper division to highlight a day filled with goals.
The win puts them second in Bracket A on goal difference, as Kickers FC hold the top spot following their 14-0 romp over NSSA Select Blue.
It was another dominant win for KFA in the boys' under-17 silver division as they trounced Manitou FC 6-0 in their opening game.
The win, however, was not enough to hold the top spot in Bracket A, as CC United had turned back Tonka United 10-0 to move into pole position on goal difference.
KFA would pick up another win on the day, this time in the boys U13 gold division.
The Kingston-based academy got the better of Shakopee Soccer Academy 4-0, but once again, sit second in their group.
Illinois' JaHbat FC currently leads bracket A, as they defeated Wave Soccer Club 6-1, to lead the way on goal difference.
KFA also saw success in the boys' under-15 bronze division, however, it was done in contrasting fashion.
Where they had normally dominated the goalscoring charts, they scored just a single goal to get the better of Winona Euro FC.
The result sees them sitting second in Bracket C, behind leaders Fusion Soccer Club who defeated Twin Cities Rush 4-3 in their encounter.
Action at the USA Target Cup continues today and is expected to run through to Saturday, July 19.
