Detectives assigned to the Kingston Eastern Police Division have arrested a vendor for murder in the stabbing death a Portland woman last Saturday on Jarrett Lane in east Kingston.

Fifty-five-year-old Sharon Young, otherwise called Roachie, of a Beach Road, Nine Miles, Bull Bay, St Andrew, address has been charged with killing Nicey Green-Edwards, 56, of a Long Bay, Portland, address. Allegations are that Green-Edwards and Young, who are both involved in a romantic relationship with a man, had an argument. During the argument, Young allegedly used a knife to stab Green-Edwards to the neck. Green-Edwards was transported to the Kingston Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Young was apprehended shortly after by the police and charged following a question-and-answer session with detectives.

Residents of Jarrett Lane said that Young passed them on Saturday morning, but they had no idea of the mayhem that was to come. One resident said the man in the middle of the alleged love triangle had recently moved to the area where he resided with Green-Edwards.

"None a the woman dem nuh come from here and the man is not an original Jarret Lane man. Him move come recent too," said the resident, who then gave an account of what happened after the argument turned deadly.

"After she stab up the woman, she cut her throat and a try take away herself so people run har down and beat har and tie her up until the police come. Mi go see her lay down in the gutter beat up," the resident alleged.

It is also alleged that the suspect got irate after calling her spouse's phone and heard another female at the other end of the line.

"Based on what we a hear is that the woman who do the killing was in the man life first, but him live with this woman now. She go in the house on the woman because she know the man wasn't there and drag her out and stab her up and cut her throat," the resident said.

"Is not like she live with the man, is the next woman man now. She say she did deh wid di man first but if the man did want har, him wouldn't leave her and go live with someone else. From a man left yuh and gone, him nuh want yuh eno. She a war over man like she a young gal, a young gal settings dat and young people nah fight over man again," the woman added.
