Williams shows good form at Florida event

Jamaica's Briana Williams showed that she is getting back to good form, winning the women's 100 metres at the Pure Athletics Global Invitational meet on Saturday at the National Training Centre in Clermont, Florida.

Williams, a member of Jamaica's successful women's 4x100m relay gold-medal squad at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, clocked a season-best 11.08 seconds. Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith of Cote d'Ivoire ended second in 11.29, as Gina Luckenkemper of Germany was third, also in 11.29.

Ta Lou-Smith returned to win the 200 metres in 23.19, as Jamaica's Yanjque Daley was third in 23.84.Athletes ran in a negative wind of 3.8 metres per second.

It was double success for Jamaica in the 100 metres, as Olympian Ryiem Forde won the men's 100m in 10.25.

Leah Anderson also picked up a win at the meet, clocking 51.63 to come out on top in the women's 400m. She turned back Kennedy Simon of the United States, who finished second in 52.46.

It was second and third-place finishes for Jamaica's Demar Francis (20.73) and Shevioe Reid (20.78), respectively, in the men's 200m, as Jose Figueroa won in 20.65.

Reid also had a third-place finish in the men's 400m in 46.21, as Trevor Stewart of the United States won in 46.00 seconds.
