Popular Boom Badda Dan Dance Competition is back, $300,000 up for grabs
The popular Boom Badda Dan Dance Competition is back, and dancers have the chance to win $300,000 in cash and prizes.
Dance All Fridays, which stages the event as part of its weekly series, is celebrating its second anniversary and is promising more vibes and energy than ever.
"We at Dance All Fridays are extremely excited to be able to celebrate our second anniversary in such an epic manner," said Sanjay Ramanand, one of the two promoters of the event, which is held at Mystic Plaza in the Hagley Park area of St Andrew.
The launch will be held today, Friday, July 11, and will be hosted by popular dancer and social media personality Christina 'Dancing Rebel' Nelson, a Boom Energy Drink brand ambassador and former Boom Badda Dan contestant.
She will also serve as the guest judge to kick off the eight-week competition.
Boom Energy Drink returns as a sponsor for the event.
"To have Boom Energy on board as we celebrate our second anniversary and relaunch Boom Badda Dan is epic. Friday will be a movie!" said Ramanand.
This is a full-circle moment for Dancing Rebel, who has gone from contestant to becoming a big name in the dancing fraternity.
"Boom Badda Dan helped put my team, Outshine Girls, on the map. It's an honour to return as a judge and inspire the next generation," she said.
Since its inception, the weekly series has become a cornerstone of nightlife in the Hagley Park area, offering a stage for DJs, dancers, and emerging talent.
Gates open at 11:00 p.m., and the musical lineup promises the best from dancehall's baddest DJs and sound systems, including The Dance, the All Fridays team of DJ Phenix, Skanty Lever, and DJ Sonny Badz; Alexx Frass; TGR Ent; Game Changaz; and ZJ West.
The night will also feature performances from a lineup of popular dancehall faces and emerging artistes, including DFT, Pata Skeng, Energy, Shelly Belly, and John Hype; the Boom Divas; Ultimate Girls; Citi Dancaz; Talent Skankaz; Mr Essence; and TNT.
The competition will award $25,000 weekly to top performers.
It all builds up to a grand finale, where dancers will battle it out for their share of a massive $300,000 prize pool.
"Dance All Fridays perfectly reflects the bold, high-energy, and unapologetically passionate spirit of Boom," said Kadechah Henry, Brand Marketing Coordinator at Boom.
"We're excited to power this celebration and the relaunch of Boom Badda Dan, one of Jamaica's most beloved dance competitions," Henry added.
