Dancehall heavyweight Govana has hailed 'Guinness Pull Up' as an authentic street event that helps preserve the culture of dancehall.

The Four Storey hitmaker brought star power to last Friday's event, held at Stadium East Car Park in St Andrew.

"Guinness really a represent fi di diversity of wi culture and wi dancehall music, because just look at what they did tonight. Mi love it and mi just hope dem keep it going," Govana said.

Blending a diverse audience with performers from different eras of dancehall, the event stood out for its inclusive vibe -- something Govana believes speaks volumes about music's ability to unite.

"I love it. I love the diversity and everything that Guinness is going on with. Guinness has been on the street of Jamaica - yuh wi see a man pon di ends wid a cold or hot Guinness, early inna di mawnin or late night; and yuh have ladies weh love dem Guinness," he said.

The event treated fans to a unique fusion of sound system showdown and live performances. Fans were kept hyped with selections from top deejays before the stage exploded with sets from Delomar (of RDX fame), Armanii, and Govana, delivering non-stop entertainment before a packed venue.

For Govana, the event was a powerful statement about the strength of dancehall.

"I hope and I think this show will make a great impact on dancehall because despite it being a dancehall event, it's clean, controlled and it's still nice. A lot of people want to enjoy dancehall, but they think that it's too raunchy and too raw. But Guinness is showing you that yuh can have a clean dancehall event, while still keeping a little raunchiness to it. So I think it's gonna have a great impact on the street and the outlook of dancehall music," he said.

The entertainer is currently burning up the charts with Mawning Sir, a fan-favourite 'gyal tune' that has already crossed two million views on YouTube. Govana explained that he felt women weren't getting enough songs that truly allowed them to enjoy themselves and dance freely.

"I don't think the ladies get enough song fi help gyrate dem body. A bare blank a buss and people a move like robots, suh wi did waah supm fi di woman dem fi just enjoy demself," he said.

And that is why he created Mawning Sir -- a track crafted specifically with women in mind.

"It was a song that was centred around women and for the women, because a dem a di main part a my career - a di woman dem tek 'Govi-Govi' to weh him dem, suh mi always affi represent fi dem. Suh mi waah represent fi dem inna a street way wid Mawning Sir and bring dem guh all di way to di top," Govana added.

The lyrical genius, celebrated for his raw storytelling and authentic depictions of life in the streets, is set to bring his high-energy performance to Reggae Sumfest on Festival Night 1, scheduled for July 18 at the Catherine Hall Complex in Montego Bay, St James.
