Jada Kingdom reigns over Stefflon Don – Bad Boy Trevor
Popular actor and commentator Garfield 'Bad Boy Trevor' Reid says that dancehall artiste Jada Kingdom is winning the ongoing feud with British rapper and singer, Stefflon Don.
"I would give Jada the edge over Stefflon. With the lyrical content she has right now, she's leading, but stopping can also mek she become a loser. [However,] to the social media environment now, she's winning and I think because she knows that she's more lyrically inclined to prove her point, she ready to stop," he told THE STAR.
"Based on what I listened, I gave her the win because Jada has the background research in her content. She has very aggressive lyrics that people might not know about Stefflon. Suh she woulda really affi come back come conquer at least 60 per cent a weh Jada seh fi come back from dis," he added.
The 'online beef' came after Stefflon Don released a supposed 'diss track' on the popular 'Dutty Money' rhythm in which she threatens a female - who some theorised was Jada Kingdom - for fooling around with Stefflon Don's ex-boyfriend, Nigerian superstar, Burna Boy. Jada Kingdom reached out to Stefflon Don via an Instagram post, asking the rapper to clarify her statements before she addressed the situation.
In response, Stefflon Don altered the lyrics to her song Dat a Dat with direct slurs at Jada Kingdom, mentioning her alias 'Twinkle'. Jada Kingdom came in with heavy lyrical shots in her clap-back track, London Bed, which triggered a flood of responses on social media. The Buddum artiste also declared in her Instagram post that this is where the feud ends for her. However, Reid felt Jada Kingdom should not have stepped away.
"I don't think dem shudda finish because fi di past two days, the entire social media was focusing on dem both and if dem know di culture, dem shouldn't stop. They have a point to prove and the world would love to see it to the end, lyrically. But stopping it now would feel like you shouldn't start it before because if Stefflon should answer her right now and come good and she seh she finish, then, she [Jada] will be the loser. Suh mi nuh want it fi end because clash is good for the [music] business, as long as it remains lyrical," Reid stated.
He opined that Jada Kingdom had Stefflon Don in a 'choke hold' when she added Aidonia's controversial voiceover, which segued into Burna Boy's song referring to her [Kingdom] in her intro.
"The intro alone win di clash. Jada took the advantage of using a piece of Burna Boy's song about her giving him the best sex and a piece of Aidonia's recording and just be creative with it in her song and it just connect. So right now, Stefflon affi go do some heavy work because I think Jada's team is knowledgeable so they can just put together something really fast while I think Stefflon is just doing her own thing by herself," he said.
While the comedian remains "fully entertained", he highly anticipates Stefflon Don's response with hopes that Jada Kingdom will reconsider re-entering the battlefield.
