Vanessa Bling, Voicemail to bring heat at Strictly 2k
Dancehall princess Vanessa Bling is buzzing with excitement ahead of her highly anticipated performance at Strictly 2K, set to take place at the National Stadium this Saturday.
"Fans can expect a magnificent set with a lot of hit songs," the Beautiful singjay told THE WEEKEND STAR.
She has promised to "leave it all on the stage" with hit singles such as My Man and Feature Guaranteed.
A throwback music festival, Strictly 2K booked the Gaza first lady and dancehall/reggae group Voicemail to entertain patrons at the show that focuses on highlighting music from the 2000s.
The event's promoter, IB Konteh, said Vanessa Bling was selected to perform because she was the dominant female artiste of the era from the 2000s, while Voicemail is "arguably one of the biggest groups from the 2000s that Jamaica has produced".
"They are always producing hits and consistent performances, and to this day, they are touring in Europe. They are an iconic group with some of the best dancing songs, and we are excited about that," Konteh said.
In relation to Vanessa Bling, he said, "We can't talk about the 2000s without talking about the Portmore Empire [Vybz Kartel] and the cadre of hot artistes, and, of course, the first lady. Based on feedbacks from Strictly 2k patrons, they always asked, 'When unu can get a Voicemail or a Gaza Slim?' The stars just aligned, and it worked out perfectly that we got both," Konteh said.
The promoter said that in addition to the 'banging' experience the scheduled artistes will provide, patrons will be raving to the musical selections of international R&B singer Usher Raymond's personal deejay, Mix Master David, from New York.
The other deejays booked to 'turn up the heat' in this event are DJ Coppershot, Creep and Jr from Chromatic Sound and ZJ Chrome.
