Iwaata celebrates his birthday with his son at Sting
Following the viral airplay on his recent hit single, Tun Di Adda Way, dancehall hitmaker Iwaata has been on a celebratory high.
To add to the festivities, he celebrated his 31st birthday with his son while performing at Sting.
“It’s a tremendous feeling because mi madda, mi baby madda deh yah, mi son deh yah and him a just three [years old] and today a mi birthday; it’s a historical moment for me,” the Nuff Money artiste told THE WEEKEND STAR.
Iwaata said that taking his entire family, especially his son, to his shows, is definitely a dream come through.
“It mean everything to me to have dem here with me because as him grow, mi see seh him love music like me too. Mi naah force him fi do music, a him a run dung di music and mi neva have no father fi carry me go a no show and mi nuh have no father. Suh mi affi mek sure seh my youth involve inna everything,” said Iwaata, given name Jason Bailey.
Speaking on his Sting performance, he said the reception was good and felt proud of himself.
“In 2014, mi open Sting and now 2023, mi a [perform among] di top 10 giants and five young giants. Suh it’s a great feeling and a big step inna music,” Iwaata shared.
Following his rise to fame in 2018, his singles have a distinctive sound and set him apart from the rest. However, he believes that his natural melody and love for the art is what keeps him afloat.
“It’s a natural thing fi mi, enuh, because mi eat, breathe, sleep and dream music right through. So I’m very fluent when it comes on to music because a nuh supm weh mi rest pon mi mind. A just free flow and it play out because a ‘play’ mi seh, enuh, it cya pause,” said the No Drama deejay.
