"Mi get smaddy fi miself and mi and him have a connection. Mi can laugh and joke wid di person and if him even vex, him naah vex fi long and dat is something I admire about him. It's a good look and even if he doesn't have millions a dollar fi give me, mi naah worry miself [because] the comfort and the love counts more than anything else [and] he's very supportive," she told THE STAR.
"It's very hard to find a man who can motivate you, so all a who a watch and a talk dat a fi dem business. It not a publicity stunt, but who waah believe, believe, because mi nuh have no time a prove myself, those days are over. The couple's engagement was announced last Friday when Shauna Controlla, given name Laniece Anderson, shared captivating images of her new love, who goes by the name Italian, down on one knee as he slides a ring on her finger. The artiste said she was stunned by the proposal.
"I was surprised because we were going to a Christmas party and that's when it happened. Him pop up pon mi inna di hotel room, then camera man start pop out and me a seh 'A waah gwaan yah so?' But I couldn't help but saying 'Yes,' she said.
The Control Button singer said that she has been in a relationship with Italian "for a while" and it was her fiance's decision to now publicise it. She emphasised on his great leadership qualities, despite him being younger, while praising his strength towards shunning public criticism he received for dating Gully Bop's ex-lover.
"We started off as friends which is the most important part to get to know each other. He's very brave and him nuh business," she said.
"The best thing I admire about him is that him nuh care about mi past and nobody cya brainwash him because he's strong-minded. The Dreamland singer is now asking for the Jamaican public to give her a break.
"It's been eight years and Jamaican people just want to use that one person [Gully Bop] against me and for me to be still doing my thing and keeping my head up and all dem can do a tear mi down, that show you how strong I am," Shauna Controlla expressed.
She continued, "Mi just want dem fi leave mi alone and lowe mi mek mi live mi life, mi happy and mi alright."
