K-Queens slam D’Angel’s jealousy allegations
Kaydine and Kerrine Francis, otherwise known as K-Queens, said dancehall artiste D'Angel may be "delusional" in accusing them of jealousy while using that narrative to avoid the lyrical battlefield.
"Foolishness. It's ridiculous because everybody knows that K-Queens are great friends with both her exes [Bounty Killer and Beenie Man]. So she has nothing for K-Queens to be jealous about. Is not like we were with any of them or wanted to be with them. So whatever she is saying is pure rubbish or this lady is delusional or probably senile," K-Queens told THE WEEKEND STAR.
"Something was said and, being a part of Alliance and you just disrespected the [leader] Bounty Killer (in a song titled War Angel), he's not going to respond to any female. So, being the only females who are a part of the camp, it's just only right for us to respond and put her in her place, that's all. There's no bad vibes between we and her [D'Angel], nothing personal, it's just for entertainment and it's a part of the culture," they said, adding that, after the 'war' is done, they are open to a collaboration with D'Angel.
The twins, who said they acted independently in "clapping back" at D'Angel, stated that, even though she is dodging the lyrical shots, they are fully ready for a clash at the Sting performance, if the promoter authorises it.
"Inna di song, she seh ' Any gyal think dem bad pass dem place, bad dolly gang deh yahso fi step inna yuh face,' so mi nuh know why she a [act] surprise. I guess she was just bluffing or [dweet] fi di hype because we are in that [clash] season and she never expect anybody to answer her. Then she's playing that victim card like 'Oh I'm here and I did nothing and they're just messing with me'. She need fi stop di running and let's make the Christmas nice and let's take it to Sting," they stated.
However, the twins agreed with D'Angel that women deliberately attempting to tear each other down is unnecessary.
"If it have nothing to do with the culture, like a lyrical war, I don't think females in the industry should be fighting against each other. But, if it's something to propel the culture and careers, then it's good," said one of the musical twins.
Amid the ongoing online brawl, the Up Inna Mi Ways artistes, who recently signed a major international record deal with Dr Basil King Beale of Kings Recordings, said they believe that they have done their due diligence in music and now is their time to shine.
"We always surround wiself wid music and, when it comes on to getting it done, a lot of artistes do things that K-Queens would never do. I will never forget weh Killer seh, 'Slowly but surely, you working to better yuh craft to become better at everything that yuh do'. Suh therefore, when God seh a your time, a your time. Wi love weh wi do and we're in a comfortable spot in our career, where we believe it's our time, because whenever it rains, it pours," said the twins.
In addition to their viral 'D'Angel diss track', Donkey Dolly, K-Queens recently released a single featuring Bounty Killer, titled Like Fi Do. Other singles include Teeny Tiny and Happy. They are currently working on their EP, which is slated to be released next year, while refining the details of their upcoming clothing line.
