International singer Tessanne Chin's is tuning the vocals of her Voice Box group to perform at the inaugural staging of 'The 4 Seasons of Christmas'.

The event will be held at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre on December 3. Chin said the team is extremely "excited" to host a show for the first time featuring a personally moulded cast of talent from Voice Box.

"We never attempted to put on this type of a show and this big of a show and to fill so many seats, so it's exciting and scary all in one. We have some amazing guest artistes that will come on board soon and we're partnering with a very cool media partner that we're excited about as well," Chin told THE STAR.

"It's a blessing and we feel so grateful to expose the kids to this kind of show and to give them the opportunity to share the stage with incredible musicians and [other creatives] and to have this experience from this age is going to be magnificent for them. It's a masterclass in itself," she added.

The show will showcase Christmas in different homes and what the celebrations look like.

"It's exploring that Christmas is different for everybody but it's the same thing that brings us all together at the end of the day," Chin stated.

Voice Box is a creative programme aimed at helping children ages six to 18 to refine and expose their talents, while creating a space for them to flourish and explore other possibilities through the creative arts. This initiative was conceptualised two years ago.

"Recently we've got two wonderful new teachers, who are also educating the children in not just good singing, but also the theory of music," said Chin, who won the popular American singing competition, The Voice, 10 years ago.

Though the idea for Voice Box was birthed through a combination of Chin's love for music and children, she said it was always her desire to contribute to the arts through her music and she believes this initiative was "her calling".

"It was heavily influenced by the fact that I grew up with Cathi Levy and The Little People and Teen Players Club. I know what it's like to have that space and how valuable and necessary it is for our young ones today because each and every one of those individuals, from Little People, have gone on to do incredible things ... whether it's Broadway, West End, [or] a career in music," she said.

Chin is reaching out to potential investors and sponsors to do their part in making the Christmas event a success. She also expressed belief that industry players can do more to invest in local talent in all creative forms.

"Our greatest export apart from sports is our artistes and we need to invest in them from now because it's better they use that to express themselves than to go outta road go do something else ... and the talent is here in abundance," she said.

Chin's vision for Voice Box is to have a full-blown state of the art facility that is open to the most talented children for them to not only learn and hone their skills, but to offer them the opportunity to use those skills.

"They come here and scout for Broadway, movies ... well we got the kids, we got the talent and we're ready. There needs to be an advert that our kids are of that calibre and they can step into those opportunities, get those scholarships to go study in the arts abroad and we are here to facilitate that."
