Turbulence ready to dominate Sting
Reggae-dancehall artiste Turbulence is signalling his intention to deliver an unforgettable performance at this year's renewal of Sting.
The Name and Number singer, is one of he 10 dancehall giants set to perform as Sting, dubbed the greatest one night reggae and dancehall show on earth, returns to JamWorld in Portmore.
"The world know seh it wasn't a 45 [vinyl single] nor a special single that made Turbulence who he is today; it's because of the concerts in and around Jamaica. People know me as a stage dominator, so because Sting is returning, Turbulence is also returning as the reigning champion," he told THE STAR.
Isaiah Laing, founder of Sting, has said this year's show, which marks the 40th anniversary of the Boxing Day stage show, will be highlighted by the presence of 10 giants. Turbulence, who is among them, said it is a rewarding feeling to be honoured in this manner.
"It's heart-warming when you see Laing call I and I phone and seh 'Turbulence, mi waah you represent'. It's a historical moment and I'm happy to be a part of it. This is our Grammy, we've been working hard and training because we still nuh reach the ultimate; even when we think we are there, we're not there. So we keep moving forward. It's a next challenge that we have to overcome suh wi ready," the Notorious hitmaker said.
Turbulence has been busy touring and performing since the lifting of the COVID-19 travel restrictions. He was the headline act the One Love Culture Fest in Kenya in June. In fact, We've Got The Love artiste has a close relationship with the motherland where he has been working extensively over the past years.
"Because of my representation of Africa through the music all the time and calling for repatriation, the people always let me know that 'You are one of the warriors that fight for us in the west, so when you come back in the east we will take care of you'. It's a very big fan base down there so we tend to always be touring down there," Turbulence told THE STAR.
