' Body Specialist' hitmaker artiste Gully Bop allegedly surrendered his life to God in his last days.

According to Pastor Christopher Tate, the clergyman with whom Gully Bop developed a close relationship in recent times, the artiste, who died at Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) on Monday, got baptised about two months ago.

"He [got] baptised and give his life to the Lord; and one of his main things was to give up on singing secular music and start to serve the Lord with his voice. But he was waiting on his health to come back, because his health was an issue," Tate said.

He said that in his early days as a Christian, the deejay was housed at a "ministry house" and while there he sent up loud praises and sang worship songs.

"He was in church and him sing up a storm in church, him sing some song inna church and moved the church! He was on a journey, but the enemy came and distracted him, and he moved from the 'ministry home', and he went back to Grants Pen," said Tate, who played no role in Gully Pop's conversion to Christianity.

Though known for dancehall bangers such as Every Gyal Want a Wuk Affa Mi and Bop Again, the deejay had revealed that he was in a fierce battle with kidney disease. In August he told THE STAR that he had undergone surgery at the KPH in 2021, and had received a kidney transplant.
